There has been a lot of talk about the nbn rollout of late with many questions being asked about who will be able to access what services and when.
One service that is particularly relevant for many businesses and residents in the Federal electorate of Parkes is nbn’s Sky Muster satellite network which was officially launched a couple of weeks ago.
This new service will be available to homes and businesses in rural and remote Australia (including external territories) that fall outside the fixed line and fixed wireless areas.
Providing an affordable connection to high-speed broadband, the Sky Muster satellite is designed to deliver wholesale speeds of up to 25/5Mbps1 and data allowances of up to 150GB per month.
Anyone can find out if they are eligible for the Sky Muster satellite service by checking the relevant address at http://www.nbnco.com.au/ or by contacting one of the following internet service providers:
• https://www.ant.com.au/
• https://www.skymesh.net.au/
These providers will provide retail plans at different price points and data allowances, so you can choose a plan that best suits your needs.
When an internet service provider receives an order, they should give a delivery timeframe which will vary depending on factors such as access to properties. After receiving a confirmed valid order from the internet service provider, nbn will then directly contact the customer to set an appointment date. The internet service provider will be sent a notification when the appointment has been agreed between nbn and the customer.
I strongly encourage everyone to check whether you are eligible for the satellite service and consider your options from there.

With the Federal election taking place on 2 July 2016, I encourage everyone to ensure that they are correctly enrolled with the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) in order to make their vote count.
If you have changed your address or have never enrolled to vote, you have until 8pm on Monday 23 May 2016 to register your current details with the AEC via their website http://www.aec.gov.au/
We are very privileged to live in a democracy and it is important for all Australians to cast their vote at the upcoming election.
If for some reason you won’t be able to cast your vote on 2 July 2016, you register for a postal vote. This can be arranged either through my campaign office in Macquarie Street, Dubbo or directly at the Australian Electoral Commission.
